Lori Anselmo

Self taught, Lori began her Louisiana based business in 2002. Formally known as Lori Gomez Art.

Many of her public Art projects are featured in the metropolitan New Orleans area. They consist of 7 streetcars for the popular "Streetcar Named Inspire" project for the Young Leadership Council of New Orleans, 6 Bead Dogs for the La. SPCA "Bead Dog" project and 4 Pelicans for the Northshore Leadership's "Pelican's on Parade" project to raise money for Rainbow Childcare.

There are several murals that can be seen throughout the city of Slidell including a 35ft. Mardi Gras Float featuring 21 portraits of locals and a 35ft mural celebrating our Healthcare workers for their sacrifices during the pandemic.

In 2005 after the devastation Hurricane Katrina left her city she began a 10 yr journey creating a life-sized nativity that spans over an acre. The nativity can now be seen during the Boys and Girls Club's Month long Christmas event held in Heritage Park. This year Panels of the Nativity will be available for the public to purchase.

Since 2014 she began renovating 7 Christmas Cottages for the City of Slidell. All of the original decorations were destroyed during Hurricane Katrina. She continues to add to the "Christmas Under the Stars" public display every year. This years addition will be a Mickey Mouse Christmas.2023

Because of her appreciation of our military she restored and painted a 100 year old Beatles themed piano for Habitat for Humanity's Veteran's Build. The piano was signed by both Ringo Starr and Sir Paul McCartney and sold for $98,000. This was enough to build a home for a Veteran.

She then spent 18 months creating a one woman "FREEDOM" show celebrating our military.

Lori is also noted for her generosity, giving her time and talent to many Charitable organizations. Since 2009 sales of her artwork have raised over $280,000 for various charities.

In 2016 while going through a difficult time, she decided to paint poppies on her old wood fence. This was something simply for herself. She had no idea how these images would affect the spirit of so many. Within a week the images of her fence went viral and were shared thousands of times all over the world. Some fb pages had over 7 million hits.

In 2018 She opened Lori's Art Depot LLC and community center for the arts in the historic Train Depot in Slidell La. It is an inviting place where she not only sells her artwork but teaches as well. Since opening she has been voted Best Art classes in East St Tammany Parish twice by the community.

In 2019 She was awarded the City of Slidell’s Bravo Award for her cultural contributions to the ciyt of Slidell.

In 2022 The City of Slidell celebrated Lori’s 20th anniversary as a professional artist with a 20yr Retrospective Exhibit in the City Hall Gallery.

Lori's Art is her way of celebrating life.
